"About twenty-five years ago, a thirty-seven-year-old home-maker named Mrs. Pauline Phillips telephoned the San Francisco Chronicle and asked to speak with the feature editor. When the woman was connected with Stanleigh Arnold, she requested a five-minute meeting to present an 'interesting proposition.' "'What about' Arnold snapped.
